Choice of caster material

Caster is a general term, including movable and fixed casters. The movable caster is also called the universal wheel, and its structure allows 360-degree rotation; the fixed caster has no rotating structure and cannot be rotated. Usually two kinds of casters are used in combination. For example, the structure of the trolley is two fixed wheels on the front, and two movable universal wheels on the back near the push armrest. The movable casters will have corresponding brake models.
The material of casters is mainly divided into TPR super synthetic rubber casters, PU polyurethane casters, PP nylon casters, and ER natural rubber casters.
The greater the hardness of the wheel, the higher the load, the more flexible the rotation, and the greater the noise. The hardness from large to small is nylon casters, polyurethane casters, super synthetic rubber casters, and natural rubber casters. Generally speaking, nylon and polyurethane are hard materials, and artificial and natural rubber are soft materials. Materials with different hardness are suitable for the ground in different situations. Soft ground is suitable for hard wheels, and hard ground is suitable for soft wheels. Rough cement asphalt pavement is not suitable for nylon casters, but rubber materials should be used.
Nylon casters have the largest load, but also the largest noise and acceptable wear resistance. They are suitable for use in environments with no noise requirements and high load requirements. The disadvantage is that the floor protection effect is not good.
Polyurethane casters are moderately soft and hard, have the effect of muteness and floor protection, and have good wear resistance, and are suitable for the most widely used environments.
The performance of synthetic rubber casters is similar to that of natural rubber casters, and the effect of protecting the floor is the best. The advantage of natural rubber is that it has high elasticity, and its shock resistance and wear resistance are better than that of artificial rubber. Generally, casters made of artificial rubber are suitable for places with high requirements for environmental cleanliness.
